| That was uncalled for, and frankly I consider it offensive. If you do not like how this site is structured and administered, you are free to leave at any time. |

| Hey guys. We just don't tolerate that kind of banter, only because it really isn't possible to distinguish whether it is out of jest or a serious insult. Would you agree? I understand that you may be used to a more lax environment and that can exist here as well, but we just don't tolerate a 'locker-room' atmosphere. Any comments which you feel might be offensive to other people at this site are probably best kept to yourselves.
Thank you. ____________________________________________________________________________________ |

| Also, lets all not get off to a bad start. Describing your story line while being derogatory to the existing one is in my opinion unwarranted. We all envision the various themes differently, some of us picture a world not unlike the 'Heroes' TV series and some of us see it more along the lines of the 'Watchmen'.
I had seen the story line from the Watchmen point of view, where costumes had once existed but outlawed. So it made sense that those rebels who would be unwilling to discard the capes would exist. That's all. I felt the element of disguises would add to the story and allow writers to explore different areas of the comic-book world.
I find your ideas intriguing and your control of the villains and reducing everyone to one character is acceptable. However, realize that by limiting people to portraying one character you both are assuming the role of Director, so this would be a Directed story.
Directed
This is basically a free-form scenario where the creator assumes the role of director. As a director, you guide the other players through your world allowing them to develop their characters and assuring that their sub-plots do not stray too far from the path. It is your responsibility to guide the other writers in a benevolent manner, you are not a dictator but a pilot making sure that the ship stays its course. Other writers who enjoy collaborative writing will not want to participate in an scenario that stifles their creativity and so you must be attentive to your creation.
This type of scenario is not recommended to people who do not have the time to ensure that the participants do not stray too far from their set plot. It is not polite to arrive much later in the story and suddenly make your fellow writers twist their characters around a full 180 degrees. You have to at all times consider the needs of the participants and provide them with enough information to properly stay within your parameters.
The more collaboration that is allowed in this style of writing the more successful the story will be. Information is often the key for a smoothly run role-playing scenario. ____________________________________________________________________________________ |

| Really, Scott...*shakes head*
Trust me guys, it was not meant in seriousness.
At least I hope it wasn't.
But I've known Scott for some time and I know the way he thinks (as scary as that may seem)
It was all done in jest.
I'm not offended by it in the least, but I don't think it's good to see in public either so I deleted the post ____________________________________________________________________________________ No chain, no lock, this train won't stop.

| While it's true, in the past things were more lax at the old site, but other than the good natured bantering back and forth, down right insulting is frowned upon at the site. It prevents any hard feelings from occurring and it shows others we're don't resort to, as Tiph put it, locker room antics. As I stated, I'm not offended in the least, but I would like to not see that sort of posts in public. Send them to me in PM's. That way I can use them as blackmail later. | Don't get me wrong, I swore like a sailor in my Hockey, Soccer and Rugby days, but as I said what can be inferred from text is far different than face to face antics. It's really easy for someone to misinterpret harsh words, so its just best to avoid them. That's all.
I am though, VERY, VERY, VERY, interested in hearing an explanation for the animosity toward Heroes as it has evolved. I personally have little respect for those who are afraid to speak directly to me and prefer to use innuendos. I am a mature and level headed person, always open to criticism in an adult manner, so please if there are any problems with the way I write or my portrayal of a 'super-hero' just speak openly to me.
Thank you. ____________________________________________________________________________________ |

| If I may put in my two cents worth, I suggest that you listen to Tiphereth. He, as well as Lac and RP, have been open, up front, honest, and very open minded since I've been here. So, please, discuss with it Tiph, he will listen to you. ____________________________________________________________________________________ Judge not nor fear that or those which you do not understand, for it or they may be someone or something that will aid you in the trials of your life.

| I meant no offense, all I was trying to say is we are going to spin off and do something a little different.
I apologize if I caused any problems, it was not my intent to do so. |

| I do not believe that there is any "animosity" towards heroes, it has jumped from the other site and changed a lot since then. Some of us that played in it at the nine have a desire to play our old characters in the original storyline. The genesis of heroes was a story about a handful of heroes in a dark world of corrupt government, dangerous villains and trigger happy cops. The heroes in this world were the underdogs, not truly "super-powered" beings. Yes these individuals had powers but not godlike ones, and they had very limited resources and very few people they could turn to. It made for balanced story play and our heroes took a lot of lumps (and dished some out too). They were not invincible, not millionaires, not "connected", and they were always on the run.
This is not a critique of the existing story, it's just a matter of different tastes. It seems to me that there is plenty of room for different tastes here. There is no reason for hurt feelings or any other similar drama, not everyone will enjoy or want to join up in every story. Those that take this site too seriously should loosen up a bit, it's a game. Some directions that new (or old) members will want to go will not please everyone so it seems to be a choice between controlling everything with an iron fist or making room for things that members have requested. There is more than one style of play, more than one way for a story to grow, and plenty of room for spin-offs.
This is supposed to be "Free-Form" role playing not battle of the personalities. Am I missing something? Is this a competition? No?- Good, let's play. |

| Thank you Zinsk. I was not intentionally trying to force you into a corner. Understand that this is different from the Nine Worlds in the respect that it is moderated by a council and there for no one will fall victim to a personality clash with one.
Well said Sub Bear. And thank you for clarifying the history, that was very enlightening.
There is a lot of freedom here. More so than many other Story Telling Sites and that freedom exists because we believe in keeping the community small and personal. We deal with problems through rational discussion, and we do not want to stifle anyone else's creativity so long as it does not conflict with boundaries set in the story.
I am totally looking forward to submitting a character to your thread and respect your rules for the adventure. I may take one of my existing characters who seems to fit into your scenario and cross him over in a believable manner. Please do not hesitate to bring it to my attention should I start colouring outside of the lines.
I have a question though. If someone wants to use a mask to protect their identity when they are say, 'killing someone in area where there might be witnesses' allowed? People cover up their faces when they are robbing corner stores, and some criminals might even tend to wear the same type of clothes all the time, all be it not a comic book style costume, but a uniform nonetheless. Y'know like some guy who wears black leather all the time or something like that. How does these factors fit into your parameters? ____________________________________________________________________________________ |
