Rayann had lain awake until the first tendrils of sunlight began to illuminate the sky. Even through the canopy of trees the glow of daylight could not be held back. While she had wished for this day to hurry and get here, now all she could wish for it to be over with. It was going to be a long day. More so for Myth than herself.

Like her, Myth had not fallen back asleep since the disruption in the late hours. At least, not fully. Both Rayann and Myth cat napped in an effort to rest up before the long, grueling day ahead. She purposely refrained from slipping through Myth’s mind wanting to give him all the privacy he needed. Besides, what little she did pick up on earlier was a mixture of thoughts and there were so many of them she grew weary trying to keep up with all of them.

When the moment finally came, Rayann sat up on her elbow and looked down at Myth. No words were spoken as they shared gazes. Finally she leaned forward and kissed him gently before she turned and slipped from the bed. It was time and both of them knew it to be so.

After a bath and a light breakfast of fresh fruit, Rayann was dressed and ready to go. For today’s meetings she donned a white frock tied loosely at the waist with a rope like belt where the tassels hung to her knees. Refusing to conform to traditional female attire, she pulled the soft, high boots Myth had given her onto her feet and wiggled her toes. She would need all the comfort she could get and there was no comparing these to tight, foot constricting slippers.

Brushing her white hair until it practically glowed, she turned to her Mage Robes and lovingly picked them up from the peg they had been hung up on the previous evening. First her inner robes clasped at the middle of her torso with a delicate, gold clasp then her outer robes still in the Pristine white worn my the White Mages of Krynn. Her arms sliding through the large arm openings of the robes to hang loose but securely from her shoulders to where only her hands were seen.

Running her hands over the soft material, she pulled the sides of the neck of her outer robes together and clasped them together with a matching gold clasp. She was very nervous but not for herself. Rayann was concerned for Myth but outwardly she refused to let it show. He needed her strength today and she would not let him down. Looking across the room and seeing her beloved, she gave him a beautiful smile.

”I hope the Elven women aren’t too jealous of me for stealing their Prince away from them.”

Closing the distance between them, Rayann once more rose on her toes to place a gentle, soft kiss to Myth’s cheek. Before she pulled away, she whispered softly against his lips.

”I love you, Myth. Don’t forget that.”

Nim’Sul could hear the door open at the far end of the great Hall of the Speaker, the magic in the air pulsed as it wove itself around the guards. Nim’Sul could see in his mind the four purple shrouded guards step in, turn in perfect precision to the outer side of the aisle and snap to perfect attention. Their ornate halberds hit the floor in split second unison and all four of their voices shouted, Jhyl jholi si Maejaes os si Mas!” (Long live the Speaker of the Stars!).

Their halberds hit the floor four more times, and then the guards fell dead silent. Their words echoed around the hall as did the thundering boom of their weapons striking the floor. The procession of Elves started, the highest ranked coming in first and walking to the front of the mighty Hall. Slowly but surely the hall filled, not even the footsteps of the court could be heard, their breathing creating barely a disturbance. After several minutes the last of the Elves came in, the guards turned on their heels and walked to the back of the hall, they motioned and the doors closed, making only the smallest ‘click’ sound as the ornate latch caught itself in the locking mechanism. The guards turned and their halberds thundered against the ground one time. From the upper part of the hall, 100, 2 meter long silver coach horns snapped up in perfect unison and a long blaring note exploded through the hall, the sound echoed around the room creating a deafening ring. As the players stopped their note, the voice of Nim’Sul rose through the halls. His flawless Elven was crisp and full of authority.

“My fellow Kin, I, Nim’Sul speak. As you know, the Speaker of the Stars, Myth'Alaas Thel'Radin, lost a son to the darkness of the Chaos god. This prodigal son returns, escorted by a servant of Solinari, Rayann Padraig of Glen Durel, twin. We gather today to discern the thoughts and the purity of Myth’s heart, and the testimony of Rayann Padraig shall be heard as witness to his character. Myth'Alaas Thel'Radin shall sit in the judgment seat to oversee the verdict brought forth this day, and in the balance of that judgment hangs, the life of the Prince, Myth.”

The crowd couldn’t help but shuffle slightly, they knew that Myth was appearing, they did not know that his life was at stake. They did understood however the laws, and should he not be shown to be pure of heart, as well as fully reformed form the way of darkness he was a threat to all of Silvanost, and the lives of every Elf present as well in the whole of the land hung in the balance of this day.

Nim’Sul’s voice rose up again, echoing across the great hall, “May the wisdom of The Speaker of the Stars be law!”

The wall behind the throne opened and Myth'Alaas Thel'Radin, Speaker of the Stars stood in all his grand splendor. He descended the small set of stairs behind the throne and took his seat, the grief of what was about to transpire was apparent, but his face was full of resolve. The traditions, stiffness, and order of circumstance the Elves were so known for was apparent in his face. He nodded a motion so slight that it would barely be noticed, and Nim’Sul, breaking from the tradition of the hall personally announced the ‘guests’. His voice magically rose like thunder.

“High Elves, may I present Prince Myth of Silvanesti, and Rayann Padraig of the White!”

The massive doors unclasped and swung open, the guards snapped to the aisle and created a line through which the two could walk towards the Speaker of the Stars.

Reassured by his love's words he had reluctantly returned to bed with her. The evening was spent in silence as they lay there in the comfort of each others arms. Myth could tell that Rayann had closed off her mind to allow him some much needed time to think on things in private. It was strange to be with someone who could listen to or ignore your thoughts on a whim. He knew she picked up on more than she let on at times but he said nothing about the matter. If he truly wished his thoughts to be private he knew he had but to ask. His thoughts remained focused on this night as he lay there staring out at the moon.

This one night of peace had the potential to be their last together or it would be one of many that would be few and far between. The audience with his father would be the pivotal point in determining the path before them. Myth knew what was to come on the morrow but he chose not to burden Rayann with the thought that he could very well be killed by royal dictate. As it was Myth knew the only reason he was standing now was because of that same dictate. A shard of regret pierced Myth's heart as he found himself cursing his past choices. Everything seemed so clear and certain back in his youth, but now he looked back upon those days seeing the misty fog that had clouded his vision. However he was resolute in standing up and accepting his responsibility.

Myth's mind became lost as he reflected on the deeds of his path. His mind roused from it roaming as the sun began to filter into the canopy above. He could only offer his love a warm smile as she propped herself up to greet him. A brief touch from her lips and they were both dressing for the days events.

With a heavy sigh Myth approached a large closet and closed his eyes before pulling the doors open. Contained inside the was a suit of highly polished ornate ceremonial armor. The one thing that appeared to be missing where the gauntlets themselves but a look upon the suit itself and a look to Myth's gear showed he had always been wearing the missing pieces.

((I may change this part of the post but I was on a time crunch this morning))

Myth withdrew folded clothing dawning dark pants and then slipped into a tunic. Upon close inspection the tunic looked like a star lit night. A deep black with tiny pin pricks of light that were really only noticeable to a keen eye. With some aid from Rayann he dawned his ceremonial garb. He through a deep forest green cloak over his shoulders clipping it with a polished silver clasp etched with his family's crest and reached for his ancient blade. Myth sighed staring at the heirloom for a long time before strapping it in place it his side. He produced a small chain that slipped around the hilt and through a carefully concealed hook at his side. It locked the blade closed so that it could not be drawn. Myth had always been proud of being gifted with the ancient weapon and had made this adjustment so that it could be carried even into public meetings such as the one today.

The preparations were complete and Myth guided Rayann dutifully to the Hall of Stars. They would arrive early and be kept waiting in a small room till the nobles and other people of import had arrived. This day people were eager and Myth found the wait had been shorter than expected. A check was done upon the chain on his blade by one of the royal guard and with a nod the two were allowed to leave.

A calm look settled over his face as he held his chin up. The sun shined into the hall and Myth appeared to embody exactly what he was, a prince of the elven people. He was nervous but he refused to let it show. The doors of the grand hall opened and with Rayann at his side he entered into the hall. His eyes never averted from the figure on the throne. One thought was paramount in his mind, atonement.

They walked the path to the Speaker of the Stars. Myth knew by instinct alone were to stop and brought them to a halt before bowing. He spoke in a loud but clear tone as he did. “I, prince Mth'Alas present myself here before the Speaker of the Stars so that I may be questioned and judged.” Standing Myth stood tall but his eyes remained averted not meeting his father's. He kept his gaze so that it fell below his father's gaze. It was not a sign of disrespect but it was a sign that he would look upon the father but as a shamed son. He would have to earn the right to look him in the eyes. Myth had always been strange in his senses of honor but they often steered him down the right path when he paid attention.

Ryann felt a sense of pride as she assisted Myth into his royal armor. She always did think he was handsome but seeing him in his armor like this took her breath away. And not just from his appearance, either. There was an air of royalty and confidence about him that seemed to blossom when he donned the shiny armor. Hopefully it wouldn’t be the last time she saw him in such fineness.

As Myth escorted her to the Hall of Stars for the reckoning with the Elven Ruler, Rayann remained steadfast and kept her eyes straight ahead of her. Now was not the time for sightseeing. If ever. Now was the time for focusing and remaining calm if for nothing else then Myth’s sake. Whispering a silent prayer to her God, she prayed for patience, understanding and mercy. It was going to be a long day and no doubt both she and Myth would be tested in many ways as the hours stretched on. If ever she needed to practice restraint and remember her lessons of formality, it would be this day.

As they made their way to the building and were escorted to the sitting room to await their calling, Rayann could feel the pulse of the magic that was natural to Krynn growing ever stronger and her heart began to beat just a little faster. Something within her told her she was right to insist they return to this place, even if it meant facing death squarely in the face. No doubt it would be the first of many trials they would face together.

As she heard the horns reverberated throughout the area, Rayann knew it would be just a matter of moments before they were escorted within the Hall of Stars. All too soon the doors to the sitting room were opened and, with a final check on Myth’s beloved blade, they were walked to the doors that would lead them into the Hall of Stars.

As the doors were opened for them to proceed, Rayann felt her heart skip a beat as she looked upon the face of the man who held Myth’s life in his hands. She had to force herself to breathe and begin walking with Myth as he walked towards the throne his father sat upon. With her eyes focused straight ahead, Rayann moved forward with Myth and immediately felt the magic within the Hall. Instantly she knew what had caused the magic to hum like it did through her entire being and it was all she could do not to smile brightly at Nim’Sul as her eyes focused upon him in recognition of his forethought.

Steeling herself to remain stoic, she refocused her lavender eyes upon the Speaker of the Stars. Knowing Myth would know the proper protocol they needed to observe, Rayann followed her warrior and stopped when he stopped then bowed when he bowed. After he made his proclamation Rayann stood straight, shoulders squared, and head held proudly as she spoke loud enough for all to hear her.

”I, Rayann Padraig of Glen Durel, humble servant of Solinari, am honored to share an audience with the Speaker of the Stars and bear witness of the Prince, Myth’Alas. May the wisdom of The Speaker of the Stars and the light of Solinari shine upon the Silvanesti people this day.”

Nim’Sul watched as Myth and Rayann walked down the long aisle between the rows of ornate and cushioned seats. Rayann spoke and Nim’Sul turned to the Speaker of the Stars. The Elf King starred at Nim’Sul a moment and Nim’Sul nodded, turning back to the gathered.

“I declare this Ceremony of Darkness to be officially in session.”

Nim’Sul looked around the room with his sharp eyes and let the silence hang in the air a moment. As he waited two seats were brought for Myth and Rayann. He walked down in front of the Speaker of the Stars and turned to face Rayann and Myth.

“It is with great sadness that we must invoke this ancient ceremony. As you know, Myth'Alas, Prince of The Speaker of the Stars, and Former General of the Grand Army of Silvanesti, has returned to our city of Silvanost. As you also know it was discovered ages ago that the Prince aligned himself with Tahkisis, Dark Queen of Chaos, and was not only instrumental, but primarily responsible in the hunting down and slaying of those whom opposed her, including his own kin. It is also rumored, but I stress, unconfirmed that he may have had intimate relations with the Queen herself.”

Nim’Sul turned to The Speaker of the Stars and bowed his head after announcing the charges. The Speaker of the Stars stood to his feet; the strain of the situation reflected in his eyes would be obvious to Myth. He stepped down and looked around the Hall; his face looked old and drained.

“As tradition dictates, this Ceremony is necessary, and as the Speaker of the Stars, it is my duty to oversee it. However, the circumstances in this situation give me pause, and I am making a temporary mandate to step down and not be the judge, my connection to the accused requires this.” He turns and looks at Nim’Sul, his voice shaking slightly. “My trusted Advisor, and friend, I ask that you oversee this Ceremony in my stead.”

Nim’Sul looked at the Speaker of the Stars curiously; his facial expression made it obvious that he had no idea this decision was coming or even being considered. He approached the Speaker of the Stars, looking deeply into the Elf Lord’s eyes but there were no words spoken. It would be obvious to Rayann that the two were speaking empathically. After several moments Nim’Sul turned to the assembled and spoke as the Speaker of the Stars ascended the stairs and sat upon his throne once again. Nim’Sul addressed the court.

“I have agreed to head these proceedings, but I will not sit on the seat of judgment, that is the place of the Speaker of the Stars only, not his advisor, even in these unique circumstances.”

The crowd shuffled slightly and Nim’Sul paced across the front of the hall gathering his thoughts. Many moments of awkward silence passed as he prepared himself. Finally he stopped before Rayann and Myth, he looked up and the wisdom in his face was obvious to Rayann. He looked Myth directly in the eyes and spoke, Myth would be able to see that Nim’Sul was not judging him in any way, he had cleared his own mind of any prejudice, and his eyes were that of pure neutrality in the situation.

“Myth'Alas, son of the Speaker of the Stars, that you were a cohort of Tahkisis is not the question, we know of your decision, and your self exile from your homeland made this ceremonial formality unnecessary when your heart first fell to her sway. You place us in a unique circumstance as a result of your return to Silvanost. I would like to look you in the eye and say the fact you are Prince is irrelevant, however the fact that you are Prince is the only reason we are assembled, you know what I speak of.” He looked Myth directly in the eyes and the non-verbal communication that he would be dead already by the bows of the city guards was obvious, even to Rayann. “What complicates your arrival to an even deeper degree is the fact you brought Rayann Padraig with you.” He turns and looks at the snow haired white robe mage. He looked deeply into her violet eyes. It was obvious that he was not in the least bit mesmerized by their uniqueness like most people who gazed upon them were. There was no double take, no stare of curiosity, he simple focused on her and spoke directly to her heart. “Your arrival here has put not only Myth’Alas’ life on the line, but yours as well. To be witness for him means you will share his fate, should he be judged innocent, you will be welcomed into the city of Silvanost, should he be found guilty, the same judgment will befall you.” Rayann would see just the slightest break of his neutral demeanor, and that he did not wish her harm.

He turned back to Myth and spoke, “Your blade Myth’Alas.” Nim’Sul motioned and the barriers that restricted the blades removal from its scabbard instantly released, it was not only a necessary thing for the proceedings, but also a show of resolve. Nim’Sul knew of Myth’s abilities as a warrior, but he was also gently showing that he did not fear the Warrior.

))CALLING THIS SMALL ACTION SO I CAN KEEP GOING((

Nim’Sul saw the obvious hesitation in Myth’s actions to hand over his blade, he expected it, a Warrior doesn’t part with his blade just like a Bard doesn’t part with their instrument or a mage with his robes and staff. He understood that Myth was not only handing over a weapon, but a piece of his soul and his identity. Myth would see in Nim’Sul’s face that his weapon would be properly respected.

Nim’Sul grasped the delicate handle of the astounding weapon and placed it on a marble table that stood in the center of the floor before the both of them. He reached into his robes and removed reagents, Rayann would instantly recognize as the components used to trace the history of an object. It was a spell she would have probably cast many times herself when trying to detect certain things about an object. He stood over the blade and hissed the spidery, ancient words of magic. The reagents sparkled to life in the palm of his hand and Nim’Sul dropped them onto the blade. The light from the spell engulfed the blade and suddenly there was darting fragments of blue, purple, orange, and green light that shot in all directions emanating from the sword blade. Nim’Sul looked up sadly as the darting light was suddenly accompanied by hideous screaming, the sounds of the dying, thousands of voices crying out just as the blade ended their lives. Nim’Sul waited until the voices died down, and it seemed like an eternity had passed when they finally went silent.

“Myth, I call on you to answer for the blood of these slain! You can clearly see for yourself Myth’Alas, the lives and the blood of the innocent cry out for justice from the Abyss as a result of your actions against them!”

Nim’Sul turned and walked to the side, revealing the blade to all present. From the edge blood was flowing and spilling out across the floor.

((I would hardly call relieving Myth of his blade a small action but the overall direction you went meets with my approval hehe))

Myth had nearly forgotten about the Ceremony of Darkness. In his time before his leaving he had only seen it occur on a couple rare occasions and the end result was never a pleasant one. On one hand he had never seen anyone walk away from the ceremony alive but at the same time there was a sliver of a chance to sway things. However he knew there were a great many things to atone for and that would not be easy to pass. His gaze remained steady as the seats were brought forth and he seated only after Rayann had done so.

His hands were placed in plain view upon his lap and he watched his father rise with an impassive gaze. Shock registered for a moment when the announcement was made he would not preside as judge. Myth was hardly surprised and shifted his eyes to Nim'Sul as he was named as the stand in. There was no other more qualified to do take the Speaker's place than the mage. Myth looked to his father and nodded his head in understanding when he fel the patriarch's eyes upon his person. It was a wise and just choice and Myth did not disagree in any manner.

As Nim'Sul took up the post Myth's gaze now rested on the adviser. While Myth would defer his eyes slightly for his father he did not do so when looking at Nim'Sul. His father represented the eyes of the people and as such his were the only eyes Myth would not meet. Every motion Nim'Sul made spoke to Myth about his frame of mind, his state of spirit, and his control of emotion. The ability to read people just through observation was a talent that bothered a great many people. In his youth people would always talk about how his gaze seemed to look right through a person. Myth had seen people shudder when they had his full attention. He knew that Nim'Sul would not react as most people though. Myth found this assuring as it was not his intention in most cases to intimidate or disturb but he could not deny that at times it had its uses. For him it was simply an natural way to perceive the world.

Wearing an impassive mask upon his face Myth listened as Nim'Sul spoke of the consequences. There was a twinge in his heart knowing more than his own life was at risk here, but at the same time he knew the women beside him would not have it any other way. He said nothing as Nim'Sul went on to speak of things and Myth held himself in check when things were spoken of in a manner that he found offensive to someone not fully aware of the situations he had not been in.

A deep anger stirred inside when he was asked for his blade. This was not a normal request and to even ask Myth to relinquish the relic at his side threatened to raise Myth's ire. Myth's hesitation to relinquish the weapon had nothing to do with the actual relinquishing of the blade. It had taken him that moment to quell the anger in his fighting spirit. He had considered the possibility that the blade would be taken from him but he had thought it would occur before he had entered the hall. This simple request in front of those assembled was akin to a slap to Myth's face and that alone required he take the time to quell his anger.

As he removed the blade from his side his eyes met once more with Nim'Sul's and his anger subsided. This man's intent was not to disrespect Myth before those assembled and that was clear as rain to Myth. Sitting back in his seat he watched as Blue Moon was taken to the table. The words of magic were spoken and Myth's brow furrowed slightly. As the screams came from the blade it helped Myth restore the impassive look upon his face. His eyes closed as images flew past as he thought back on the past few years. As the screaming died Myth opened them once more and calm returned to his face right until Nim'Sul opened his mouth and in Myth's eyes proceeded to insert his own foot in it.

Agitation was clear as day on Myth's face as he stood from his seat raising himself to his full six foot plus height. "I will speak my peace now Nim'Sul... I do not wish to posture and mix words. I will speak my peace in response to this display. I am not here to make excuses only speak from the depths of my being." He saw several people shift in their seats as he turned looking around the room and then to Nim'Sul once more.

"Yes look upon the blood that flows from the ancient blade of my ancestors. Over the course of the blade's life it has taken the lives of countless people. I am by no means the first owner of this relic and there are those in the darkest parts of my lineage that have committed acts far worse than I in its past. By no means do I feel this to be a true showing of the lives I have taken."

Myth took a moment to compose himself holding a hand to show he was not finished "I skilled and powerful mage like yourself could tune the spell to limit the scope of the search however and I will not deny that. What I take issue with mostly is your choice of words. In my service I did not work for the regular military nor did I take command of any force larger than a small detachment of men. I was the shadow that struck at the enemies heart in the darkest hours of the night. You speak of the blood of the innocent demanding justice. As a soldier I was taught that in war there are no innocents. I agree with that philosophy only to a point... soldiers are not innocents, politicians, and merchants in some nations can hardly be considered innocents. Never once was my blade turned upon those truly innocent. If I was tasked with a mark then that person was of strategic importance to the war. This was the cot o my blade and though it did a lot to anger my commanders none could do the job better and thus it was tolerated. I assure you that unless they wielded a blade or wand not a women, child, or elder was felled by my blade."

He took a breath lowering his head slightly a pained look upon his face as he thought of the innocents his companions had slain while he turned a blind eye. "However there are many actions I failed to prevent by simply walking away. The blood that flows off my ancient sword is nothing compared to the blood that stains my hands because of things I did not put a stop to because if I did not see it it never happened.. I let my inaction harden my heart so that I could turn a blind eye upon the world around me. "

Myth looked around the room once more before returning his gaze to Nim'Sul as he took his heat once more. However his royal posture had diminished and deep lines ran along his features showing that there some emotional drain happening. Only his gaze remained constant and his final words remained in his mind but spoken empathically because the voice of his mind would not suffer from the same strain his verbal voice would "I lost everything I was in the darkness because I was tempted in a moment of profound weakness."

Nim’Sul’s face never changed, even as Myth raised himself up and spoke his peace, Nim’Sul’s demeanor never broke. Myth was an impressive figure indeed. The average height of an elf male was five feet, Myth towered over his kin not only in height but in stature, almost as if a special gift had bestowed upon him from the gods themselves. Myth spoke his mind, and then sat. Nim’Sul listened as he heard Myth speak into his mind, and he stared directly into Myth’s eyes.

“You speak of the blades history, but you neglect to mention that this blade is neutral and impartial in its usage. Blue Moon is not good, it is not evil, it is not the one responsible for those that have died on it's edge. It does the will of its master without thought or prejudice, and if you dare to think that I am tainting the results of my spell to better present my case you are sorely mistaken. Don't take me as a parloure illusionist Myth'Alas, I was there giving blessings upon your arrival on Krynn! Your suggestion that I am swaying the spells to my own desire is not only insulting it is also a clear indication that you have been gone long enough to forget who and what I am! Those who held the blade before you are not the ones on trial, Prince. Those who were under your command and did far worse, as you put it, are not the ones on trial for betraying their kin, Prince. Myth’Alas, you are here to be questioned about your actions, not theirs. To compare yourself to others in your defense is like a flower comparing itself to a rock in order to be less withered by the sun, it is black and white, and it is inconsequential. I agree that the duty of a soldier is to kill, but it is the allegiance you pledged and who you chose to be a soldier for that is in need of answering. Spare us the explanations of how you only killed those that were marked as strategic in winning the war, it is the fact that you killed, even if it had only been once, for the Queen of Chaos which has us all assembled here this day.”

Nim’Sul looked hard into the warriors eyes, he could see the regret and the mourning in Myth’s contained within them, but he was also the one in charge of finding the truth, by order of the Speaker of the Stars, and the question keep circling through his mind... could an Elf break from his people and then return, truly repentant?

Nim’Sul turned his eyes to Rayann, his motion was slow and deliberate. He spoke softly, but his voice was also forceful, much more forceful than she had ever heard during her trials.

“Rayann Padraig of Glen Durel, second twin, daughter of Lachlan Padraig, the deceased High Mage of Asalon and former keeper of the Sphere of Kells, why have you come? What clairvoyance or insight have you seen within this Elf that you are willing to lay your own life down on his behalf?”

Rayann watched the interaction between Nim’Sul and the Elven Ruler and knew after she spoke they were communicating without using verbal language. Knowing it was a common trait among the Elven race, she had never seen it used so openly like this before and while she would have liked to know what was being said, she refused to let herself be seduced into trying to listgen in on a private conversation. Besides, she knew without even trying Nim’Sul would have prevented any possible listening from those he didn’t wish to hear.

As Rayann heard the charges that were leveled against Myth she knew better than to show too much emotion but when the last accusation was put out there, a shadow crossed her face and for a brief second, hurt filled her eyes . She knew the possibility of intimacy between Myth and the Dark Queen was high but she chose to not think of or even allow herself to look into his mind and see if any of it happened. Still, it would explain how the Dark Queen was able to keep her hold over Myth for so long and even have him turn against his own people.

Still, as the words were put out there for the entire public to hear, Rayann swallowed visibly but remained standing next to Myth as proud as she had when they walked into the Hall of Stars. What had occurred in Myth’s past was just that. his past. She was his present and hopefully his future as well.

But when The Elven Ruler stepped down from the throne and make the shocking announcement he would not be the presiding judge over the ceremony, it caused Rayann to blink. Immediately her gaze shifted to Nim’Sul and she saw the look that crossed his face followed by the moment of since shared between the King and his Advisor. Knowing that once again they had shifted to the non verbal form of communication, she could tell this announcement caught the Archmage as much by surprise as it had everyone else gathered within the grand hall.

When the Hall settled down and the proceedings began as Nim’Sul walked towards her and Myth, Rayann saw the clearness in his gaze and knew that while he may not like being the one to lead this ceremony, he was doing so with a clear heart and an open mind. She seemed to stand just a little straighter then knowing her one time mentor was living up to be every but the man she knew him to be.

It still didn’t make it easier for her to hear what Nim’Sul said when he looked Myth in the eyes and spoke about his return to Sylvanost. And when the Archmage’s gaze settled on her own, Rayann didn’t blink. Even when he told her of the possibility of her own demise. Her knees grew weak and her legs suddenly trembled for never before had she been faced with such dire circumstances without the use of magic before. But Rayann refused to let her fear show so clearly to the others gathered in the Hall. While Nim’Sul would see that fear leap into her lavender gaze for a moment at almost the exact same moment she saw the look in his eyes change, he would also see it leave and determination takes its place. If she were to die at Myth’s side, then so be it. She would accept the sentence handed down to both of them. But Rayann was determined not to allow that to happen.

As she watched Myth hand over his blade to the wise Archmage, Rayann knew what was coming next and felt her stomach twist in a knot. As Nim’Sul cast the reveal spell and the Hall echoed with the anguished cries of all those who had fallen to Myth’s blade, Rayann knew she would not easily sway the Royal Court easily. And while that seemed like a difficult mountain to climb, Rayann knew the one things the Elven people respected and admired more than anything was honesty. And she could be very honest, almost brutally so, at times.

As Myth stood and spoke his peace, Rayann let her eyes drift from her beloved warrior to his father, to Nim’Sul then back to Myth. She was proud of Myth for standing and speaking his mind and when he sat back down, she saw the drain his profession had on him. But she also felt the deep regret and hurt he felt as though it were her very own. And when his last sentence was spoken without speaking verbally, she heard every last word of it.

Rayann’s heart broke into a thousand pieces. Not because she was hurt or betrayed but because she saw, for the first time, Myth was coming face to face with the truth of his actions. And the reasons behind those actions. It was never easy to face yourself after the things you have done hurt others, but it’s only through this soulful cleansing could Myth have any kind of honorable future.

Rayann wanted so much to reach out to Myth and comfort him. even now as she blinked back tears and swallowed down a lump in her throat, she knew she couldn’t. He was a proud Prince and warrior. She had to give him this moment to prove to his people he was strong but not so proud as to ignore what he did or didn’t do.

As Nim’Sul turned his inquiry to her, Rayann blinked away the moisture in her eyes and swallowed once more to try and regain her composure. When the questions were asked, particularly the last one, Rayann hesitated a moment, glanced to Myth then gave her full attention and focus to Nim’Sul and stood up. She wasn’t nearly as impressive in size as Myth was, but she hoped she could somehow hold the attention of the Elven people as she spoke.

From her heart.

”Because he was willing to lay down his life for mine and still does this very day.”

Rayann let that one, short sentence sink in as she heard the slight shuffling from the gathered crowd before she continued.

”My brother and our traveling companions came upon Myth in Witch Woods. It was the shortest way between our two destination points and while we wished not to travel within the darkness of the woods, we all decided it was the only way. We were halfway through our travel in the Woods when we came upon an accomplished warrior taking on three of the Dark Queen’s men single handedly. I watched for a short time and saw he was rather winded, indicating he’d been at this for some time. Not to mention the men he was fighting had been granted the ability to never die. No matter how many times he struck them down. When I saw he was about to be struck down, I intervened and banished the Queens men from the Woods. After a reluctant agreement of the party, we invited him to travel along with us, and it was a good thing we did. We were all sorely tested several times but the worst came just as we were about to reach our destination at the other side of Witch Woods. We were all attacked by a band of blood thirsty goblins. My brother suffered the worst of the injuries. So bad, I was certain he was knocking on deaths door. Myth used every bit of his skill to fight off the goblins and with a spell cast by Rorie and aided by me, we were able to defeat the goblins. If it had not been for Myth, Rorie would have perished shortly after that fight. He carried Rorie to the next village where we met up with a healer and with the help of the healer, Rorie began to slowly recover.”

As Rayann spoke, she glanced around at the Elves assembled in the Hall before she let her gaze either settle on Nim’Sul or the Speaker of the Stars.

”The mission Rorie and I started out on could not wait so after meditating all night I made the decision to break away from my brother and continue traveling with Myth as my protector and escort. We took a less traveled path to avoid anyone who may know me or Myth. Taking the trail that would lead us throught he mountains, Myth and I set out to finish that which had begun. Little did I know Myth’s true intentions.”

Again she heard a soft shuffling before she continued.

”Days turned to weeks and it was during this isolated time I spent with Myth I began to see the hardened shell he wore slowly deteriorate. We began to talk. About little things at first but then we began to trust each other with things we had never shared with another being. Not eve Rorie knew some of the things I told Myth. Several times we were called to protect ourselves and it was during a particular fight I aided Myth in such a way he had never had anyone aid him before. Or ever will again. After the fight, the weather began to take a turn for the worse so we sought shelter in a cave. It was shortly after we were settling in for the night Myth was visited by the three men he was fighting in Witch Wood and told he was being relieved of his duty of escorting me anywhere. Faced with the decision to either turn me over to the Dark Queen or risk his own life to protect me, Prince Myth’Alas chose me. It was a brutal fight but Myth was able to defeat the men, but not before he suffered severe injuries himself. It was only after the fight I returned to the cave and found Myth walking back from the outside, covered in blood. His own and that of the men he defeated. I saw the men lying in the snow as the blood ran like a river from their bodies and it was at that moment I knew Myth’s true intentions.”

Turning to let her gaze settle on Myth’s, she spoke again.

”He was not escorting me to where I wanted to go. He was escorting me to the Dark Queen herself.”

The look in Rayann’s eyes was nothing but full of love for Myth as she looked at him. And as she heard the shuffling settle once more she continued again.

”But because of something he thought he was incapable of, he had chosen to turn against the Dark Queen and choose me instead. Or, to put it more plainly, he chose to do what he knew to be right in his heart. Even though he knows the danger he places upon himself each and every day for breaking away from the one who kept him shrouded in the haze of deception.”

Turning away from Myth, Rayann glanced around the assembled group then let her gaze settle on The Speaker of the Stars for a moment before she let her gaze settle once again on Nim’Sul’s.

”His actions in the past can never be erased. It’s simply impossible. But the Prince who sits in this Hallowed Hall today is not the Prince that left all those years ago. In order for his future, and the future of the Silvanesti people to be written, he needed to come here….to come home….and be cleansed. To find his roots and regain his sense of duty to his people and prove, that no matter what, he is now, and shall forever be, the Prince his people need him to be.”

Rayann’s eyes cast around briefly before she spoke again in a slightly hushed tone. The emotion in her voice couldn’t be hidden now, even as she blinked away tears.

”But he cannot be that Prince if he is not given the chance to prove himself to be the man I know him to be to his people.”

Taking a deep breath, Rayann bowed respectfully then sat down next to Myth. Tears threatened to fall from her eyes and she had to blink several times to prevent that from happening just as she had to swallow several times to try and rid the lump that formed in her throat once more.

Myth was raising his hand to his temple when Nim'Sul responded and much as Myth had expected the mage had misinterpreted his every word. However with some thought Myth saw the truth in what Nim'Sul was saying as well. He was here to answer for his actions not make excuses for them. What Myth did take issue with was the spell on his blade. The warrior simply felt that the display was unnecessary not that the respected white robe had tainted the spell in some way. e had meant to choose his words carefully but it appeared that he had chosen poorly. He could only shake his head and sigh quietly.

His eyes shifted to Rayann when she rose from her seat. He could feel her unease as she stood and prepared to speak her mind, but he was not worried because he could also feel her determination to move forward. His eyes closed as she began telling the tale of their first meeting. His mind wandered focusing on the memories that day. He played the scene in his minds eye watching as he laid out his trap with masterful precision. Right down to using the ancient blade to drain his strength to feign his weakness. The only emotion that came to him was revulsion as he looked upon himself. With some effort his thoughts pushed onward past the days events and the many battles they would endure.

Moving forward in his thoughts as Rayann spoke he again focused on a pivotal point. The day after they arrived she had come to him about leaving Rorie behind to rest and recover. It was a most fortuitous piece of news because he was having a hard time figuring out how to separate the twins, and yet fate slapped it into his hands. Even now though Myth felt this was still a fortunate outcome but for entirely different reasons. In time as they traveled he recalled how she had widdled down down the walls between them with logical reasoning. The began to talk and Myth saw her as less of a prize and more as a person. The veil of darkness was lifting slowly being lifted from his eyes.

Myth recalled the moment he had made his choice. The speed of his movement as his hand grasped the neck of the dark one's shoulder and the relief in the pit of his soul as the dark shackles broke when he snapped the man's neck. He felt both pride and pity for that one act that started him down the path of recovering himself. The hours that followed were etched into his soul as he recalled the pain of his punishment that night before a bright like broke the darkness freeing him from the dark prison of his mind. Myth looked up and saw the look of love in her eyes and it gave him strength as he returned the look. They had truly endured a great deal since they had met but Myth was realizing how far she had brought him in that time as well.

He reached out with his hand and placed it on Rayann's shoulder as she took her seat beside him once more. He could see her fighting the tears and it brought an ache to his heart but he smiled regardless showing her he was proud of her self control. He knew that it was a taxing endevor and he hoped it would not be prolonged more than necessary. Silence fell over the chamber and Myth waited for Nim'Sul to say something more.

With a semblance of renewed strength Myth rose once more from his seat. He straightened his garments and raised his head high. His voice remained calm and steady never raising any higher than needed. "I am not here to make excuses for myself. I apologize if you thought that was my intent and I ask your forgiveness in my poor choice of words. I was not trying to insinuate that you had tainted you spell. I thought it more showy than was needed for this assembly."

Myth cleared his throat before continuing "If you have questions then I will answer them... but first I will answer one that I know will come in time and I wish to speak of it before I answer any others. The question of course is why did I choose to leave the Dark One's employ. Our lives are full of choices that shape our existence and we make them every day. One day I found myself staring upon a choice that not only effected me, but the entirety of the land of Krynn. I had traveled with this woman before you for a great deal of time and had discovered her to be a pure soul. For some reason unknown to me the Queen had chosen this woman to be her emissary, her champion. I will not pretend to know what purpose the Queen had but I do know that she would have to corrupt this woman's soul."

Myth took a breath as he looked around the hall. He had thought long and hard upon what he was about to say, but not because of the situation here and now. He had spent many nights mulling over why Rayann was so important to the Queen that she would seek the woman so earnestly."I have seen the Queen work her magic upon a mortal's soul and even on my darkest day it could make me shiver. She a knack for taking the brightest thing in a person and turning it is black as her heart. She delights in the torment and anguish that she puts these mortal's through. The fact that she would even ask me to retrieve this woman alive was enough to give me pause. As I have said I was only sent after people of importance... but I was always sent to kill them." He train of thought began to falter and Myth shook his head.

"Forgive my I stray from the point... Something in my gut told me she should not be delivered into the Dark One's hands. My gut feelings gave me pause but the love I had developed for this soul gave me the strength to act. I chose what was right both in my gut and in my heart. Since then she has been the light that has guided me from the darkness."

Turning to Nim"Sul Myth was now once more full of strength and determination. "She has given me the strength and guidance I needed to bring me to this place before this assembly. I have come to face the demons of my past and to answer for the sins committed in the name of Tahkesis. I will not make excuses for the choices I have made. I can only embrace the consequences and hope they will make me a stronger person. My final days may be upon me but I will not live them in pity and regret."

His eyes hardened and his stare became intense "A warrior simply accepts his actions... I am here to accept both my actions and their consequences even if it means my death. Sadly since my beloved's life also rests with my own it is yet one more consequence I must accept but I will do so. If you have questions for me then ask them..." Myth crossed his arms and waited standing. He would not take this sitting he would take it like the warrior he was. He was now staring at his own fate and he was not going to back down.

Nim’Sul stood completely still as Rayann spoke, his eyes never leaving her own. She would be able to clearly see that he was not only listening to her voice, but also for the truth in her words. The only time she saw any break in his posture was when she mentioned breaking away from Rorie, at that point she would have clearly observed him closing his eyes, taking a deep breath and then opening his eyes again to continue listening.

As she sat he turned and spoke empathically with the Speak of the Stars for a brief moment and then turned as Myth began talking again, out of order. Nim’Sul over looked the break of protocol, this was a serious matter and he could feel the emotions of the Prince. It was understandable given the circumstances and the potential outcome.

Myth spoke, his voice carrying through the Hall of the Speaker, reverberating to the heights of the ceiling. Nim’Sul stood as graceful and peaceful as always, listening, his face not breaking from its expression of concentration and listening. Myth went on, explaining himself, placing the reasons of his actions, and the outcomes on the altar of his trial, and Nim’Sul merely watched, and listened. He never shifted even the slightest as Myth gave testimony to his reasons, and his action. The last works Myth and spoke into Nim’Sul’s’ mind were still echoing around in Nim’Sul’s’ inner ear, and he watched the Prince proclaim his love for the human female. Many of the assembled sneered as he made his feelings public about her, falling in love with a human might as well have been a cardinal sin to most Silvanesti, but Nim’Sul simply watched, and listened.

Finally Myth turned and faced Nim’Sul, crossing his arms in non-verbal defiance and defense. Nim’Sul stood stoically for a moment, staring the impressive warrior down. It was obvious to Myth, even though he may have never shown it, that Nim’Sul was not in the least bit intimidated by the gesture of He never said a word, he simply observed. It would be obvious to both Rayann and Myth that he was not just looking at the physical, but the magical as well. Finally, Nim’Sul lifted his right hand towards Myth and hissed the spidery words of magic. Thousands of shards of white and gold light shimmered into existence revealing themselves from the hidden river of magic that flows across the whole of Krynn. Darting around Myth, the lights danced a perfect choreography that was not only mesmerizing but peaceful to behold. Some of the light was swirling around him while other shards were piercing through his impressive frame and appearing out the other side, brighter than when they had gone in. The crowd gasped quietly; almost in unison as Nim’Sul made the revelation known that this whole time he had been watching beyond just the Prince that was standing before him. The revelation of innocence caused the crowd to stir and whisper among themselves, their beloved prodigal Prince was home. He looked Myth in the eyes and there was the very faintest of smiles creeping across Nim’Sul’s’ lips. He spoke without ever breaking eye contact with Myth.

“As the Elves know, a Ceremony of Darkness cannot occur without the incursion of the light. Ultimately, neither I, nor the Speaker of the Stars are the judge of the one on trial, it is much easier to leave the fate of the accused up to the will of the gods. Myth'Alas, your words are pure, and there are enchantments around this Hall to prevent lies being spoken, your sincerity is obvious.”

He broke his lock on Myth’s eyes and turned to look at Rayann, he never said a word, but the look on his face said plenty. He was proud of her, but also disappointed in her. There was both a quiet happiness and a deep sadness within his eyes, as if there was major unfinished business to be dealt with.

Nim’Sul looked up and spoke his voice once again full of authority and strength. “I declare this Ceremony of Darkness concluded, Myth has been found cleansed, and he will not be banished or executed.”

He turned to the marble table and reached, picking up Blue Moon and brought it over to Myth, handing the Warrior his cherished blade. He looked Myth in the eyes once again, speaking through missive directly into Myth’s mind.

“Myth’Alas, Prince of the Speaker of the Stars, welcome home. I pray that your blade will be used from this day forth in the service of the light.”

Nim’Sul turned and ascended the stairs, walking to the right of the Speaker of the Stars, and disappeared behind the wall behind the throne.

Rayann watched Myth as he told about why he was sent to retrieve her for the Queen and why he ultimately refused to comply with his orders then proclaimed his love for her. Hearing the gasps that erupted in the Hall she could only imagine what they were thinking. An Elf loving a human was almost as offensive as the other things Myth had done. Almost. But the pride and love she felt in her heart for the Elven Prince and Warrior for making the proclamation known to one and all made another lump form in her throat. They had privately declared their love for each other but not until now did anyone else know. It was like a heavy burden had been lifted form her shoulders.

She watched the expression on Nim’Sul’s face, as she had since she arrived in the Hall of Stars. In Rayann’s mind, there was none other more suited for the position he held in this Kingdom or during the difficult proceedings of the ceremony. The Speaker of the Stars was indeed a wise man to have Nim’Sul as he most trusted friend and Advisor.

When Nim’Sul lifted his right hand and whispered the words of his spell, Rayann instantly stood and watched, amazed as the rest of the assembled crowd, at what transpired. She had heard of this ritual before but had never seen it in use. As she saw the dancing light pass through Myth only to emerge on the opposite side of his body even brighter than they had entered, Rayann knew what the significance meant and she gasped softly as fresh tears sprang to her eyes as a smile began to form on her face.

When Nim’Sul announced the undeniable results of his spell for all to see, Rayann saw the look in Nim’Sul’s eyes when he looked to her. To say the least, she was concerned by what she saw and knew he would reveal everything to her when they met privately later. What caused her even more concern was the way he had looked at her, or lack there of, when she mentioned she decided to go on without Rorie. Had something happened to her brother she didn’t know about? Surely she would know if that were the case. She had decided to separate herself from him only long enough to reach her destination and have him join her as soon as she knew where she was going.

When the Archmage of Silvanost declared the Ceremony over and handed Myth his beloved blad back, Rayann pushed the troubling thoughts from her mind. As soon as Myth had secured Blue Moon back in the scabbard she stepped up to Myth and rose up on her toes. Wrapping her arms around his neck and hugging him tightly as she whispered in his ear.

”Welcome home, Mel’amin.”

Nim’Sul went to his chamber and set the Staff of Winds within its resting place. The staff hummed gently as it stood on end, perfectly suspended with no need to be balanced. He walked to his closet and removed his outer robe, hanging it on the body rack that stood at the back of the closet. The sweet smell of reagents permeated the air as the inner lining was exposed to the atmosphere around it.

He walked to the balcony and looked out across the rooftops of Silvanost. His eyes scanned the area as he tried to clear his mind before he went to his studies. He was finding it difficult to do so after the events of the morning. There was a soft knock on the door and he turned, speaking barely above a whisper… “Enter.”

His Apprentice entered and Nim’Sul looked at the young Elf. He was still very young, only 50 years old, but was an extremely promising magic user, showing incredible talent and devotion to the craft. The curious thing about him was Nim’Sul knew the young Elf, and remembered him being introduced to the Archmage many years ago, but the details of the youngling’s parents and origins were like a fog that hung in Nim’Sul’s mind. He always had it on his agenda to refresh his memories of his Apprentice’s lineage during their next meeting, but somehow it never came up. Shaking the thoughts from his head he smiled gently to the young Elf and gestured for him to enter.

“I apologize Melcindomien, it slipped my mind that you were scheduled to come as soon as the Ceremony of Darkness concluded, please come in.”

Melcindomien nodded respectfully and stepped in, closing the door behind him. He walked to his Mentor and spoke, his voice was distinct and Elven, crisp as a morning breeze. “The verdict was heard in the entire land master, the Silvan are rejoicing knowing their champion Prince is back and pure once again.” Nim’Sul nodded his head and turned to look at his protégé. “It is a great thing, perhaps the brightest spark of hope that has been gifted to us in a century. You were only a baby when Myth’Alas broke with the Silvanesti, so I understand you won’t understand until you see what Myth’Alas’ presence does to the morale of the Silvanesti nation. For the first time in a long time, hope will be restored.”

Melcindomien’s gaze went out across the rooftops, and then back to Nim’Sul’s face. He nodded and spoke. “I understand your words Master and I look forward to feeling that hope. It is good that one issue has been dealt with and is now behind us so you can concentrate on the bigger burden at hand.” Nim’Sul looked at his Apprentice and nodded gently, the younglings wisdom was beyond his years, something Nim’Sul had recognized immediately. “Yes Melcindomien, you understand our responsibilities well.”

He patted his Apprentice on the shoulder and they walked across the top of the tower to where they worked. Sitting at their work areas, the places where they studied, prayed and discussed, Melcindomien looked at his Mentor and Master. “Tell me more of Rayann Padraig Master, she intrigues me.” Nim’Sul looked up and stared deeply into the eyes of his Protégé. He spoke, and there was a slight hint of sadness in his voice. “The river of magic has been in chaos and disruption for one hundred and twenty seven years, when the Dark Queen started her war against Krynn. She has vowed to eradicate all life from the planet the gods created so long ago. In order for her goal to be accomplished, she desperately needs magic users. The river of magic flows and binds the planet, balanced by the three moons, evil, neutral and good. The gods Nuitari, Lunitari and Solinari guard this river above all things. Though Nuitari and Tahkisis are aligned in the order of things, and Nuitari is the son of Tahkisis, they are not aligned in this war against Krynn, mostly because Tahkisis has stolen magic from him to grant to her followers and therefore, hates her. Black Robe Wizards have been joining with Tahkisis in their quest for more power, and to be granted that power more quickly than following the path of the true god of darker magic. Tahkisis has managed to tap into the river of magic but is also encouraging the learning of ‘ambient magic’, and is therefore distorting true magic, which is to be managed by the gods of the moons, to feed these wizards with the power they crave, and to serve her purpose. As you know, all wizards wear the color of their deity and moon; however Tahkisis’ color is the same as her son, so the wizards of Tahkisis wear robes with iridescent black sleeves. They also were a symbol on their outer robes, a black crescent, typically on the sleeves or chest. “

In an attempt to bring balance back to magic, the three gods unified and through a lineage of pure human mages created a set of twins, born separate but also as one. Rayann and Rorie Padraig of Glen Durel entered Krynn to serve a purpose, to bring magic back into balance by defeating the wizards that were tapping into the ambient magic. The only way to reset the balance was to defeat all those practicing this perverted art. Their strength was their unity, and it was the sharing of minds which made them undefeatable. They had not yet been informed of their purpose, it was decided by the Archmages of Krynn that they needed more time to discover their power. Rayann however, though her motivations might have been pure, broke that connection, a connection that can never be rebuilt as it was woven together by the three gods of magic as their brains were formed. When she dissolved that connection, it was lost forever.”

Melcindomien’s face twisted slightly as Nim’Sul mentioned the severing of the mind connection. Picking up on his Apprentice’s facial expression he leaned forward and spoke. “Purify your thoughts youngling; remain on the path of light. We work for the good, we do not move to anger quickly.”

Melcindomien nodded quietly and set himself back into his chair. “I understand Master; I apologize for being out of restraint.” Nim’Sul smiled gently and nodded, “We all learn from the beginning Melcindomien, let us get to our studies.”

Tanjee and Kwinn had settled down for the night after talking some more with each other. Once Kwinn’s worries were calmed, she let the human ranger sleep on a comfortable lounge in the audience room. Tanjee herself had settled down in her room and had just drifted off to sleep when she heard Kwinn begin to snore. Making a face and snorting softly, she pulled the pillow over her head and rolled over, burrowing herself beneath the soft sheet of her bed.

Bright and early the next morning she was up, bathed and sitting on her balcony, sitting on pins and needles wanting to know how the proceeding within he Hall of Stars was going. She caught a glimpse of Myth and Rayann as they made their way to the Hall and admired both of them. The Prince looked like the true royal son he was in his Princely armor and Rayann looked like a white haired Goddess. As soon as she heard the horns blare, she knew the proceedings were about to begin. Closing her eyes, she whispered a soft prayer to her Goddess.

”Please let the Prince come home.”

Walking back inside, she saw Kwinn was still sleeping soundly on the lounge and she chuckled softly. He was sleeping on his stomach, his mouth was partially open and the sheet she gave him was draped over him from his waist to his knees. Thankfully his trousers were still on his person sp here were no awkward moments. Walking over and shaking his bare shoulder, Tanjee called to him softly in her native language.

” ’Quel amrun, taur’ohtar. Lumme’ a’ de (Good morning, Ranger. Time to get up.)”

Kwinn did not have wait long for sleep to come, before he had even met the others he had been traveling for weeks with limited rest and a few hardscrabble meals. The elf city had a calming effect on the ranger, at different hours of the day and night harmonious bells rang softly throughout the city. Some time trumpets sounded as they did last night as Myth and Rayann were called to appear in the hall of stars.

After Kwinn had filled his belly with Tanjee's fine food and she had made up the parlor room for him to sleep in the ranger had slept better than he had in a year. Kwinn was still in a deep sleep when Tanjee's gentle hand touched his shoulder.

Kwinn grabbed her hand and pulled her to him, it was an act of pure instinct, the ranger was used to sleeping in the wilds and a few times he had been accosted by woodland creatures. The ranger sat up quickly and pulled the Elf woman to him, his arm across her chest, her back to his chest.

"Steal my food will you!" The ranger barked comically before he was even half awake. A second later the ranger came to his senses and realized where he was.

"Apologies my lady, I was sure I was back in the wilds."

His wits were about him again but he did not let Tanjee go.
"This is no way to repay your hospitality."
The ranger held her for a few more seconds and let her go, as she stepped away from him the ranger threw caution to the wind and kissed the Elf woman on her cheek.

"Diola lle Lirimaer (thank you lovely one)"

The last thing Tanjee expected was to have Kwinn awaken in such a manner as to accost her. With a squawk of alarm, the Elf suddenly found herself pinned back against the chest of the Ranger and feeling more like a snared rabbit. So shocked was she that she didn’t even move to try and remove herself from his grip. Not that she really wanted to, but still.

Quite a few things went through her mind in those few seconds. Did he always awake like this? It was a good thing they weren’t in the woods or he may have pulled a weapon! Or was that a weapon he had pressed against her now? It was kind of low if it was. What was she going to do?! She’d have to be more careful next time she awakened him! Was he always this warm? His skin sure felt good against her where they were coming in contact with each other…..

When he realized his mistake, Tanjee actually breathed a sigh of relief. And felt disappointment at the same time. Then slightly confused as he didn’t let her go completely. When he spoke to her, she closed her eyes and felt his warm breath against her ear. As soon as the grip he had on her loosened she opened her eyes and began to wiggle free. Reluctantly. She was almost completely free when she felt Kwinn pull closer and kiss her cheek.

Stopping her movement and covering her cheek with her fingers, she sat on his lap and turned her head quickly to look at him. There was surprise in her gaze but there was also something else and before she knew what she was doing, Tanjee leaned in and kissed his cheek as well. Not pulling away, she smiled softly and whispered.

”You are very welcome.”

Pulling back, she smiled even more than forced herself from his lap and take a few steps away. Her cheeks grew warm and she bit her bottom lip then turned away to gather her composure once more. When she turned around, her cheeks were still a soft, pink hue and she was still smiling.

”I have some fresh fruit and nuts if you are interested in easting something. The proceedings for Prince Myth’Alas has begun and I eagerly await the outcome of them. Would you care to join me on the balcony?”
