PostSubject: Re: Life After the Cataclysm - Chapter 4   Fri Sep 17, 2010 1:35 am

Kade followed hands in pockets leaving an easy trail but he wasn’t in the mood to mop it up as blood dripped from the coat to the floor, they walked slowly across the barren land before coming across what had been a tarmac road. Only the durable concrete underneath surface had lasted the melding of worlds as Kade walked in the lead with them behind him muttering to himself slightly.

They walked and walked the sun was beginning to dawn a slight worry rose but quickly sank to luckily for Kade it was rising behind the huge smog cloud from the burnt out city so he would be safe to the sunrays he wondered just how far it would be till they hit another place to stay. The group was truly unaware of just how close they were as the worlds had warped and collided certain cities had suddenly sprung up stupidly close to each other and it made little sense. The group walking on the road would find themselves come swiftly closer to another ‘sanctuary’.

A short description of the city: Italy, Venice is a simple description for you who have been there for those that haven’t the city is built on a load of concrete stilts as its usually situated on a river mouth our one will be dumped into a still water lake as it suddenly collided with our realm. The city will have a rich and diverse architectural style, the most famous of which is probably the Gothic style. Venetian Gothic architecture is a term given to a Venetian building style combining use of the Gothic lancet arch with Byzantine and Arab influences.

The period which our lovely lake city now was in the mid 19th century for those wondering what I mean we having Italian mobsters walking across those beautiful arched bridges. Random shootings at night the sound of happy Thompson being heard in the night...talk about violence from one city to another the mafia had been running this town and suddenly dumped in this place they had even more power over the people.

((As a helper i though i would add this image))

Sin had noticed the blood coming from Zack, but said nothing, even though she wanted to. She herself was tiring, Shaleen becoming more and more agitated with her as Sin pushed her still healing body beyond it's endurance. "SinTara! You must tell him that you need to rest!! NOW!!!" But, Sin ignored her, so she went to Kaelan and spoke to her, telling her that Sin would push herself until her body dropped. Then she showed her, inside of her mind, what had happened to her older sister those months ago. How she'd almost died after being chewed upon by the sand creatures and then fighting to survive as she made her way to Zack. Her body, internally was still not fully healed as she wouldn't allow herself the time her body needed to do so. "She must rest, Kaelan. She is being stubborn." But, Kaelan had gotten to know her sister in the short time they'd known each other and she knew that nothing she did would change Sin's mind and if she said anything to Kade, Sin would only push herself that much harder. Instead, she moved in closer to Sin, keeping an eye on her as they walked.

Sin stumbled a few times, but when Zack/Kade would turn to look at her, she'd look away, still moving. The fifth time she stumbled was when they made it up to the top of a hill and looking down and probably about 1 to miles out, she saw a city....or what was left of one.

Kade stopped at the top of the hill looking down on the lake city almost seeming to float on the surface as he tilted his head. “Reminds me Toreatus?” He knew well enough that it was probably a similar city to the one he was thinking of after all it could be a copy of it from another dimension where a fountain might be missing. “Well we found somewhere for her to rest.” Knowing full well that Sin was driving herself to the bone as wondered how to get to the city when he saw a rather well built wooden bridge... “Come on let’s go and find a nice B&B!” Wondering if they even understood what it meant as he walked down the hill hands in pocket.

Kade walked backwards looking at the girls as an eyebrow rose. “Did either of you learn anything about these water towns in your training programs.” The ever harsh Kade as he didn’t consider their feelings over the ordeal.... “If not I am sure Shaleen has a few memories after all she was with me back then.”

Sin was beginning to drag, only her anger and will keeping her upright. Shaleen had long since given up getting Sin to slow down. She wasn't going to slow down until she dropped. She'd let Kaelan know to keep an eye on her older sister.

Sin trudged along, glaring into Kade's back. "When are you going to let Zack take over, Kade? You are doing what you do best and annoying me." She knew that part of her problem was her exhaustion, but she also wanted Zack back. Dealing with Kade made her uneasy, especially when he tried to be caring and nice to her.

They stopped when they got to the gates, Sin swaying on her feet, but still glaring at Kade. He hadn't answered her yet but she hadn't expected him to either. If he did, it would probably be cryptic and bleak.

The two guards stationed raised their heads as they saw the strange red coated man leading towards the city first thoughts...pimp....but they soon saw the sword on his back and the coat may be red but those dark stains weren’t any old dye. The two guards brought up there Thompson with large drum mags. The redcoat stepped in front of them looking left to right...the man simply said hi his eyes were as red as his coat it unnerved Kevin who was the left guard as he stared at those horrid crimson red eyes he looked to Robert his partner on shift.

“Uhhh.....U...hhh Robbey!”
Shouting even though the two were practically next to each other by the wooden arch which led to the bridge his partner turned towards him aiming the Thompson at Kevin instead.

“I am right next to you no need to shout, and how many times do I have to tell you it is Robert!” Shelling back his retort at pretty much the same volume as Kevin...the two glared at each other for a good duration before finally turning back to the strangers....

“What you want!” Still shouting it was causing the tall man to wince but the two didn’t care as their Thompson’s kept trained on him.... “I don’t like the look of you!” Still shouting as the two didn’t want to tone down.

Deep within the city in some ramshackle club he sat with his shoes on the table....guilded boots? Cowboy boots. The man was counting out money as he sat in the dark room only his boots visible in the smoke infested room the cigarette at the corner of his mouth a little glowing spot in the darkness. “Damn I am bored out of my brain.” Slapping down the notes his hand getting caught by the light from his desk lamp they seemed a strange white....gloves. The man leant back in his chair a long creak coming from its stressed wooden frame.

Kade cringed as the two shouted right in front of him his hands going to his ears as they finally asked what he wanted. “Entry?” The two guards tilted their heads. “Papers?” Kade shook his head as the two narrowed their eyes even further at him. “These two are merchants and I am their bodyguard we were robbed getting here of all our belongings just managing to escape so I am sure you won’t mind if we enter and look for work?” The guards clicked their tongues on the top of their mouths. “You don’t look like no merchants.”

Kade was reaching his limit when suddenly Zack’s calm voice echoed out to him. “Just bribe ‘em.” So Kade gave a sigh thinking it would be easier to kill them but causing trouble at the gate would be too much. “How much is it for entry for slavers?” Instantly the ears perked up on the guards almost as they straightened. “What about 5 gold? Could buy you half a life time’s food maybe even a rich manor?” The guards eyed him more suspiciously. “I thought you were robbed of all belongings.” Kade smiled as he rocked on his heels. “Oh they did rob those two but I am fine.” With a deft hand Kade pulled out his pouch Kaelan had seen it before at the bar the variety of different coins and the amounts were astounding as he sifted out five gold coins. “Thank you kindly.” Slipping it in the front pocket of Kevin... “Share it evenly now.” The two were so shocked at the bribe they didn’t say a word as Kade led them onto the cobbled streets.

Sin's eyes reddened when Kade mentioned 'slavers'. "You'd better not be planning on portraying me and Kaelan as slaves!", she whispered furiously at him. She hadn't expected a reply from him and didn't get one.....at least not yet. He paid the guards the bribe and they walked through the gates. Sin looked around, not sure what to expect or what she was seeing. Kaelan was just as much in awe as her sister, then Sin stumbled again. Kaelan quickly steadied her, "You have to rest as soon as we find a place, Sin or you're going to drop where you stand." Sin looked over at her sister, the look she gave her telling Kaelan she wasn't telling her anything she didn't already know, yet she kept pushing herself.

"When are you going to let Zack come out, Kade? You're being awfully selfich, even for you."

Kevin regained himself as he patted his chest. "Wow he gave us so much!" Turning to his partner with a smile.

In the distance the echoing of a Thompson burst could be heard from the gate as the group walked away.

Robert sighed as he looted Kevin's corpse..."Why take a little when you can take it all." Like they say no honor among thieves

The man sighed as he stood up from the table eyeing the money as a knock came on his door he lifted his head to the door finally shouting. "It is open!" The door opened with an old creak the walls beyond in the corridor a pale sea blue. "Report in?" The man didn't enter but quickly held a pad through the door. "Read it out damn it." The man pulled it back to him with a cough as he read the report file to the strange man living in the smoke.

"Umm...Kevin was killed today as well as the truckers were attacked losing almost 30% of the cargo and all drugs were sold today, units were dispatched to the farmers to retrieve more." The man in the smoke nodded slowly.

"How's Robert?" The reporter paled. "He has yet to be found." The man walked back to his chair a strangle clinking sound could be heard. "Outsiders have gotten in keep an eye open..."

Kade turned tilting his head to Sin... "Well he is busy gluing his body back together metaphysically to allow him to actually move." Kade didn't need to explain much more as he walked down the cobbled road admiring the huge gothic arches inlaid into the buildings. "Nice place."

The group walked for a good duration before finding exactly what they needed beds a hotel. Zack walked to the entrance removing his coat to at least look presentable to the people behind the reception desk he turned to the two girls smiling slightly. "Any requests for room?"
