Englewood Police

When Grey leaped up into the tree and discharged his firearm, the cops all drew their weapons.

"Gun fire." Tyrone said into the radio on his collar. "Suspect is armed and dangerous."

"Drop the gun!" Ordered Jimmy. "Drop it now!"

Then the female officer moved ahead of the men as she recognized the signs of the syndrome the man suffered from. "Everyone hold your fire!" she told them. Then she spoke to the man in the tree while keeping him in her sights. "We don't want to harm you, but you have to drop your gun now or we will open fire." She explained to him, with deliberately slow words so that he might be able to understand what she was saying. "If you drop your gun and come with us peacefully, we can talk about 'Wrangler'. When was the last time you took your medication?"

The other officers kept their guns aimed directly at the deranged man. Each of them were questioning the dextrous leap he made and considering the fact that they may be dealing with a meta-human, so they were extra cautious, just in case this guy started shooting laser beams out of his eyes or something.

"F#$& you, I ain't doin' shit!" Grey shot back, then leaned back against the branch, the gun still dangling from his hand, and rubbed his eyes. It was getting harder and harder to stay conscious and his tics were becoming unbearable, several nearly knocking him out of the tree. Still, he ignored the woman's question and shouted back at them again. "You . . . you seen-- F#$@!-- Wrangler or . . . or not?!" he demanded. "Lookin' for someone and . . . chillin . . . ain't no crime! I ain't goin nowhere!" As he slowly moved to reposition himself, a violent tic shook the entire top half of him and he finally slipped, dropping the gun as he grabbed for the branch.

Grey's feet dangled for a moment before he managed to toss himself back up onto his branch. Looking down at the gun laying on the ground, he swore loudly and eyed the cops, considering making all of their guns quietly malfunction. He was always hesitant to use his powers around cops as it would, if connected to him, most highly risk exposing his true nature. Eyes fluttering, Grey moved onto a thicker part where several branches came together, making a kind of cradle and leaned in there. His stomach was churning, his vision blurred and swaying, and he could only hope he could get these damn pigs to leave him alone before he inevitably puked and passed out.

Morgan finished cleaning the shallow scratch on her leg, then sits back in the seat. "So, where are you from, Sean? If you don't mind being asked. Oh, and, Tim and I aren't boyfriend/girlfriend." She sighs wistfully at this, not knowing she's done so. "Tim tried to hit me with his car day before yesterday.", she tells him with a mischevous smile as she looks at Tim.

Morgan sighed in relief as they pulled into a little mom and pop gas station. She grabbed her bag, "I'll be just a few minutes while I change my jeans." Sliding on her sunglasses, she heads inside the gas station.

"Excuse me, but where is your restroom, ma'am.", she asks the young girl behind the counter. Blowing a bubble, the girl hands Morgan a key on a 4 inch long board. "Outside and around on the west side." The bubble pops loudly. "Thanks."

Over by the chip area, a man perks up, hearing Morgan's voice. He waits until she's out the door before following, waiting close to the ladies restroom for her to come out.

Morgan quickly changes, brushing her teeth while she's at it and brushing her hair. Once done, she packs everthing back up, throws her torn jeans in the trash, and leaves the restroom.

"Hello, Morgan." Morgan stops in her tracks, her breath hitching up a bit. "Daddy?" She turns, looking upon the face who called her a freak and made her feel worthless growing up. "What are you doing here?"

"I started over, Morgan and I never thought I'd run into you here." He looks around, spotting the Hummer she got out of. "You traveling with him?" Morgan looks around, not noticing that her father has moved, forcing her up against the wall of the gas station. "I see you've finally gotten smart and hide those freakish eyes of yours. You should, you should hide them. They're shameful. Are you still talking to animals, Morgan."

Morgan looks around as her father crowds her, not giving her a way to get away from him. She looks up into his eyes and sees that he's not all there anymore. Maybe he never was. "Daddy, just let me go no my way, please." She knows she sounds pathetic, but he had always made her feel like she had to beg for anything and that she was not worth the ground he walked on.

"Let you go? Let you GO?! They didn't let Cassie go, did they Morgan?! All because of your demon eyes? If you hadn't even been born then Cassie would have been alive. It's your fault that she's dead." By now, he is nose to nose with her and tears are streaming down Morgan's face. "I DIDN'T KILL HER!", she yells back at him, trying to get around him, almost succeeding. He slams her back into the concrete wall. "YOU KILLED HER!! IF YOU WERE NORMAL THEN SHE'D STILL BE ALIVE!!"

Morgan continues to shake her head from side to side, repeating the word no over and over again. "You're nothing but a freak and I wish you'd never been born!! You'll always be nothing more than a freak!"

Tim, decided to top off the Hummers fuel tank as Morgan chaged. Always on the alert, an instict ingrained in him from his ntraing bot as a Navy Seal and as a police officer, Tim noticed the man hanging out by the restrooms. When he saw the man corner Morgan, pressing her to the wall. Tim left the fuel pump running and moved quickly and silently up behind the man, slipping a 40 Caliber semi automatic from the shoulder holster under his jacket as he approached. Placing the weapon to the side of the mans head, Tim said calmly "Ya best be listenin' ta me real close thar ya perveted scumbag, ifin' ya don't want yur head ta be air conditioned real permanat like. Ya put yur hands slowly on top of yur head and back away from the young lady real slow like. Then I reckon ya best be droppin' ta yur knees and cross yur ankles. ..... Now I have had a couple of real bad days mister, so I reckon it wuld be real smart of ya ifin' ya din't make any sudden moves." Tim then poked the muzzle of his weapon sharply against the side of the man's head. "Do it now." Tim said forcefully.

Morgan stays where she's at, shell shocked at seeing her father again and the words he yelled at her. She just keeps shaking her head from side to side.

"Hey, man, I'm her father and why would you want to protect her. She's nothing more than a freak who got her baby cousin killed. You should be pointing that gun at her, not me. Have her take off her sunglasses, look at her eyes. They're demon eyes." He glares up at her from his kneeling position. "SHE'S A FREAK, I TELL YA!! I SHOULD HAVE KILLED HER WHEN I SAW HER EYES AFTER SHE WAS BORN!"

Morgan turns her head slowly, looking at her father, the tears still streaming down her face. "I feel sorry for you, Daddy. I feel sorry for you." She turns and walks slowly back to the hummer.

Sean had shifted to shadow and slipped out of the car with Tim. Hiding in Tim's shadow he waited to see what would happen next. He didn't want either of his new friends hurt. As Tim waited for the man to respond Sean moved over to the man's shadow. Should anything go wrong he was ready to act.

"Yur one lucky son oa a bitch, taday. Ifin' ya weren't Morgan's daddy I'd just shoot ya an make the world a better place. But ya are her daddy an I ain't gonna shoot ya taday. ..... I've seen Morgan's eys an seen what good she kin do. I'm right sure she din'y get that thar qaulity frum yur sorry ass. I here ta tell ya dirtbag, ifin' I see ya so much as mile near Morgan agin, I'll send yur ass right ta hell..........Comprenda?" having said that Tim wrapped the man sharply right behind his ear, knocking him cold. The man fell forward on his face.

Tim walked back to the Hummer and removed the fuel nozzel from the tank. He opened the back of the Hummer and rumaged thru a bag John had laid in the back. Tim took out two long nylon zip ties, walked over to the man laying prone on the ground, slipped a zip tie around his wrist, behind hi back and one around the man's ankles. Picking him up by the ankles, Tim drug him over to the front of the store, dropping his feet. Tim then walked in and up to mthe counter, reached in his back pocket and paid for the fuel. He said to the old man behind the counter as Tim quickly flashed his Gold Dallas Detective sheild and Identification so quickly the man did not have time to read it. "Thar's a pervert jus' out yur dar, that likes ta hang 'round bathrooms. I figure he likes little boys as well as little girls. he's hog tied real good so he won't be a bother ta ya. I reckon ya oughta call the police and hav' him hauled away. ......... Thank ya kindly sir."

Tim then walked calmly out the door as he passed the man lying on the ground, Tim gave him a swift kick in the ribs, hearing the bones snap. Then walked out to the Hummer, climbed in and drove north east into the rising sun.

Englewood Police

When Grey dropped his gun the officer, Tyrone, holstered his side arm and drew a taser. "I have a clear shot." he alerted the others.

"Take him down." Growled Jimmy.

Tyrone aimed his weapon at the man as he began to sink into a mass of branches, like some primate ready to bed down for the night. "I'm taking the shot." announced the officer. He aimed and prepared to squeeze the trigger.

Time - 8:35 pm - Thursday
(a surmised day of the week to differentiate from the other timelines. The approach of a weekend may add to the dynamics of the settings)

-------*-------*-------*-------*-------*-------

Back at the yet undisclosed military base...

Alarms echoed through the hallways of Detention Area Delta as all exits were sealed with iron blast doors designed to detain even the most heavily armed escapee. The area really only consisted of two long corridors, parallel to one another and all the cells in the aisle where Toril, Yelena and Cassius had been imprisoned were unoccupied. The reason being that Delta was a closed sector that Vacily utilized for his own personal agenda, but Shawn and Cassius had been moved to another sector; a separate facility on the other side of the base. Both of them were now, to the eyes of the military, terrorists and were being treated as such. Shawn was being kept in an induced coma and had been openly designated as a meta-human, thus the next day he would be transported to a R.A.I.D. detention centre and Cassius had been stripped down, given a pale grey coloured prisoner's uniform and thrown into solitary confinement under the name, John Doe.

From Toril's perspective the entire base was on high alert, when it was actually only their own detention area, still he leapt up on his bed once more and shouted at Cassius, "Hey! What's going on in there!"

Sara-Lynn Tessier, within her technologically secure chamber, awaited Yelena in the guise of Cassius to lead Zoe into the specific areas that were hot zones which would enable them to focus their weapon. Once she accomplished this easy task, Killswitch would be rendered unconscious and at their mercy.

Time - 12:43 pm - Thursday

Once Tim and Morgan are back in the Hummer Sean rises up from the shadows, becoming solid. He kneels in front of daddy dearest. "There was something he forgot to tell you. Come near her again and I will know and I will visit you again." He removes his sunglasses to reveal his bright white eyes and black pupils. "I will always know where you are. The Shadow is everywhere." He melts back into the man's shadow then quickly returns to the Hummer.

Morgan sat, staring out the window of the hummer. She didn't even aknowledge Tim as he got back into the hummer. She saw Sean rise up and say something to her father, who was beginning to wake up. She watched as her father's eyes widened and he began to shake. She still didn't speak when Sean climbed into the back of the hummer, nor did she say anything as they drove off. Her whole demeanor was one of someone who had been defeated. Quiet tears still fall from under the sunglasses as she just sits there, curled up in the seat, seeing nothing as they drive along. All she says a few minutes later is, "Thank you, Tim. And, thank you, Sean, for whatever it was you said to him.", her voice barely more than a whisper.

Tim said as he reached up and turned the Hummer's radio on, pressed search and the morning news came on.

".... and that is the weather in your part of the country" the weatherman said.

Thank you Robert.....and now to that continuing story of the vigilante the authorities are calling "The Wrangler" FOX News has learned from a source with the Federal Burue of Investigation, who spoke to us under the condition of amunimity said 'We believe there is a definate link between the individual who crashed, what can only be called a military style armoured assault vehicle, into the "Our Lady Of Mercy" emergency waiting room, then sped away at high speed, being pursued by Federal and Local authorities. Who was latter envolved in a major accident which destroyed the assault vehicle in a tunnel in New York City. And the individual who is the vigilante know as "The Wrangler" '....... "The Wrangler" is suspected in at least six assaults on known street gang members and a high speed gun battle and car chase through the street of Brooklyn, New York. Tom I can only wonder is this "Wrangler" a dangerous crimminal or an avenging angle set to accomplish what law enforcement officials have failed to do recently?" Gloria Newcastle anchoret for FOX NEWS said

"I agree Gloria, either way the authorities are not going to permit this vigilante continue to show them how to do their jobs." Tom Hanson, News Anchor for FOX NEWS IN THE MORNING said.

"Right you are Police Chief Richard Gagliono said 'I don't give a damn if this individual is The Arc Angle himself nobody takes the law into his own hands in my city.' " Gloria said

Frank layed there, his cracked ribs making it hard for him to breath. When the old man working the gas station came out and bent down next to him, he tried to look pleasant. "Sir, please, you have to untie me. That young girl is my daughter and that man kidnapped her. Convinced her to go with him. I'm trying to get her back. Please, I have to get my daughter back before he hurts her."

The old man scratches his chin, "Well, I doin' know, buddy. I don' know. That man with her says that you're a pervert, hanging around the restrooms and what not."

"I know, I know, but it's not true, I tell you. She's my daughter and she needs me. Don't you have children?" The old man looks at the young girl behind the counter, "Well, I got me my granddaughter my wife and I are raising, so I guess you could say that I still have a child." Frank sees that maybe there's hope, "What if someone convinced her that you were bad and were trying to control her, take over her life and she'd be better off with them instead of you, but this person was dangerous and everyone saw it but her. Wouldn't you do whatever it took to get her back, keep her safe?" The old man pulls out a pocket knife, cutting the plastic ties that have Frank hog-tied. "Yea, son, I would. But, that man, he didn't seem all that bad." Frank rubbed his wrists, "I know. He's a real charmer that one. Thank you, sir, thank you so much."

Frank rises slowly, his ribs protesting the movement. His eyes turn cold as he looks in the direction they've headed in. Walking to his Chevy Silverado pick up, he gets in and opens that sense that he has to track Morgan. His smile would have chilled the old man to the bone if he'd seen it as Frank pulls out and heads after Morgan. She'd pay and so would those two assholes she was traveling with.

Morgan said nothing at first, when Tim told her about her father. Finally, she turned her face to him, removing her sunglasses, her lavender eyes bright with unshed tears. "You don't know him, Tim. If anyone can get out of a situation, it's my father. I saw his eyes, he's crazy, Tim. Maybe he always was. I'm glad that my mother didn't live to see what he's become or what he did to me."

She turns back to the window, leaving her sunglasses off since no one can really see her through the tinted window. "He'll get out of it and when he does, I've got the sinking feeling that he'll come for me." She turns back to Tim and looks at Sean sitting in the back seat. "Tim, maybe you and Sean should go on without me. Drop me off somewhere in the woods. You've already got a full plate catching up with your friends and rescuing the one. You don't need my problems on top of it and Sean will be more beneficial to you than I would be. I can live in the woods, I'll be fine. Just let me off here."
